The Portfolio Managers responsible for The Carrousel Fund are our Chairman Bruno Sanglé-Ferrière, and James Beddall (ACA).

Listed below are biographies for all members of staff at Carrousel Capital Limited; with well over 120 years in finance between us we have a small but very experienced team.

Bruno Sanglé-Ferrière

Chairman / Founder

Bruno has been involved in the financial services industry since 1990 when he joined Société Génerale Securities (North Pacific) in Tokyo as an intern studying cash and carry arbitrages over bonds and stocks. In 1991 he was put in charge of trading cash and carry arbitrage on the Nikkei 225 and TOPIX indices. In December 1992 he transferred to Société Génerale de Valores in Madrid where he oversaw the establishment of a program trading desk and settlement of the derivatives department. In March 1993 he transferred to SGST Equity Derivatives in London where he oversaw the installation of a program trading desk for cash-future arbitrage. He then traded Swedish OMX and Dutch AEX index options. In December 1994 he became head of non standard arbitrage, mainly taking positions on undervalued closed-end funds. Mr Sanglé-Ferrière left Société Génerale in July 2000 to set up Carrousel Capital Limited, trading in Closed End Funds with The Carrousel Fund. EuroHedge magazine nominated Mr. Sanglé-Ferrière as Event Driven hedge fund manager of the year in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Darren Anstee

CEO

Darren has 25 years of comprehensive experience in business development and directing and improving operations through strategic planning and effective management of staff and budgets. He spent 8 years in Investment Banking at S.G. Warburg (now part of UBS) then 6 years at Deutsche Bank as Global Business Manager in their Equity Capital Markets division, managing teams in London, Frankfurt, New York, Baltimore, Hong Kong, and Sydney. He subsequently joined Albemarle Asset Management & GMSA Investments as COO before joining Carrousel Capital in April 2010. He holds CF1, CF3, CF10, CF11, CF28 registrations with the Financial Services Authority.

Christophe Le Lannou

Head of  Systematic Trading

A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique of Paris and Ecole des Mines of Paris, Christophe began his career in 1997 working as a trader within the equity and equity derivatives departments of a number of major banks in London, most recently as a proprietary volatility trader at Swiss Re Financial Products. He has more than 10 years expertise in trading equities, equity options, convertible bonds and other structured products, and as well in arbitrage & relative value trading. Christophe joined Carrousel in 2007, to take charge of the research and the development of new systematic strategies, and managing the Centrix IX systematic portfolios once they launched in July 2010.

Lilian Chovin

Systematic Trading & Research

Lilian graduated with honours in 2006 from University Paris Dauphine with his MSc in Asset Management, having written his thesis on “Alternative Investments in Asset Allocation”. He had already graduated in 2005 with honours having sat a Bachelor degree in Applied Economics at the same school. After graduation, Lilian completed an internship at Oddo Securities as an Assistant Portfolio Manager trading European and French small and mid caps, before taking full time position at Carrousel in Nov 2006 to work on development of Centrix IX alongside Christophe Le Lannou.

Jonathan Franklin

IT Development & Support

Jonathan joined Carrousel in 2005 having previously worked for Goldman Sachs, taking care of their VBA Development and Support. Before his stint at Goldman, Jon had provided database solutions for Essex County Council, Capita Business Services, and the Defence Housing Executive. Jon is coding expert qualified in VBA, VB6, Access, Excel, DOS, SQL, C++, Java, HTML programming, and was instrumental in the development of the Centrix IX model.

Lee Nixon

Middle Office & Operations Manager

Lee has 21 years experience in banking and finance, having joined the National Westminster Bank in their retail arm where he worked for 8 years in various operational roles, followed by a 4 and a half years period of service in Back & Middle Office for the London branch of Asahi Bank. Joining Carrousel in 2002, Lee is the second longest serving employee at Carrousel Capital after the Chairman.

Valeria Di Profio

Office Administration & Accounting; Investor Relations

With Italian as her mother tongue, Valeria is a valuable member of the team, being responsible for investor relations. Valeria holds a Diploma in English, French and German Languages from Istituto Tecnico Industriale L Cobianchi, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Specialized Translation between English and Italian from the University of Westminster. Valeria is also qualified in all Microsoft Office applications. Prior to joining Carrousel in 2007, Valeria worked as PA to the MD of GATES Support Project.

James Beddall (ACA)

Closed End Fund & Systematic Trading Consultant (Redmire SC)

James graduated from Warwick University and started his career in 2000 within the financial markets division at Andersen. He joined HSBC-Equity Product Control in February 2002 and was HSBC’s first qualified Chartered Accountant outside public practice. In September 2004, he became responsible for Alternative Sales, which was shortly combined with Global Value & Growth Specialist Sales, where he captained various primary launches. James joined Carrousel as a Trader/Analyst in May 2006 and became deputy CIO in 2009, responsible for new CEF opportunities. In late 2010 he set up his Mexico City based consultancy, Redmire SC, to provide research and trading services exclusively to Carrousel Capital on Asia Pacific and American markets to better cover investments in those times zones that are difficult to cover properly from the UK. James is in contact with us throughout each working day by video phone and spends 2 weeks out of 8 in the UK at our offices; James remains an important and valued part of the Carrousel team.
